On My Wishlist is:Through to You by Emily Hainsworth

Blurb from Amazon:
Camden Pike has been grief-stricken since his girlfriend, Viv, died. Viv was the last good thing in his life: helping him rebuild his identity after a career-ending football injury, picking up the pieces when his home life shattered, and healing his pain long after the meds wore off. And now, he’d give anything for one more glimpse of her. But when Cam makes a visit to the site of Viv’s deadly car accident, he sees some kind of apparition. And it isn’t Viv.

The apparition’s name is Nina, and she’s not a ghost. She’s a girl from a parallel world, and in this world, Viv is still alive. Cam can’t believe his wildest dreams have come true. All he can focus on is getting his girlfriend back, no matter the cost. But things are different in this other world: Viv and Cam have both made very different choices, things between them have changed in unexpected ways, and Viv isn’t the same girl he remembers. Nina is keeping some dangerous secrets, too, and the window between the worlds is shrinking every day. As Cam comes to terms with who this Viv has become and the part Nina played in his parallel story, he’s forced to choose–stay with Viv or let her go–before the window closes between them once and for all.

Cover Love: I like double figure in the water. It fits the blurb with the transition between parallel worlds.

I’m looking forward to this book because it sounds extremely contemporary. It deals with loss and letting go. At the same time, it uses a parallel world to deal with the loss. It is an interesting combination and I hope that it doesn’t disappoint.

On My Wishlist is: Breathless by Jessica Warman

Blurb from Amazon:
When Katie Kitrell is shipped off to boarding school by her distant father and overbearing mother, it doesn’t take her long to become part of the It Crowd. She’s smart, she’s cute, and she’s an Olympic-bound swimmer who has a first class ticket to any Ivy League school of her choice. But what her new friends, roommate, and boyfriend don’t know is that Katie is swimming away from her past, and from her schizophrenic older brother, Will, who won’t let her go. And when he does the unthinkable, it’s all Katie can do to keep her head above water.

I love water imagery. I will read almost anything as long as there is water in the cover. I love this cover. It doesn’t look like she is drowning but there is a sense that is something is wrong. I’m looking forward to the schizophrenic discussion because it is an interesting mental disorder.

On My Wishlist is: Displacements by Thalia Chaltas

Home is supposed to be a place you belong. It’s supposed to be parents who are there and siblings who bug you and a life that feels comfortable. It’s not supposed to be an absentee mother or a drowned sister. But that’s Vera’s reality, and she can’t stand it anymore. So she runs. She ends up in an old mining town in the middle of the California desert. It’s hot, it’s dusty, and it’s as isolated as Vera feels. As she goes about setting up her life, she also unwittingly starts the process of healing and-eventually- figuring out what home might really mean for her.

What attracted me to this book is the cover. It is so YELLOW. The book is calling to be noticed and it worked. The novel doesn’t sound like what I usually read but I like that it is set in California and the search for the meaning of “home.” Could be good.

On My Wishlist is: A Blue So Dark by Holly Schindler

Blurb from Amazon:
Fifteen-year-old Aura Ambrose has been hiding a secret. Her mother, a talented artist and art teacher, is slowly being consumed by schizophrenia, and Aura has been her sole caretaker ever since Aura’s dad left them. Convinced that “creative” equals crazy, Aura shuns her own artistic talent. But as her mother sinks deeper into the darkness of mental illness, the hunger for a creative outlet draws Aura toward the depths of her imagination. Just as desperation threatens to swallow her whole, Aura discovers that art, love, and family are profoundly linked—and together may offer an escape from her fears.

OMG, this sound amazing. It walks the fine line of being insane and being creativity. I really want to get my hands on this book. Plus, the cover is amazing. I love the drowning girl or re-surfacing girl (depending on your view).
